How to Change the Tube in a Grease Gun
Manual grease guns provide a means for greasing all kinds of bearings and bushings on lawn and garden equipment, automobiles, and tractors. All mechanical equipment incorporates bearings requiring grease service periodically. Manual grease guns for residential use supply grease via a cartridge, which loads into the grease gun. The grease cartridge must be replaced with a new cartridge to replenish the grease gun. Does this Spark an idea?

Extend the follower rod fully by pulling it out of the grease gun by hand. The follower rod is the T-handle shaped handle and rod at the opposite end of the grease gun as the grease head.

Unscrew the grease gun head by grasping it firmly with one hand, while holding the barrel firmly in the other, and turning the head counterclockwise.

Remove the head and set it aside on a clean surface or shop towel.

Press the follower rod back into the grease gun to expel the empty grease cartridge. Remove the empty cartridge by hand and dispose of it.

Extend the follower rod a second time allow it to lock in place.

Take the new grease cartridge and remove the plastic cap located at one end. Press this end of the grease cartridge into the open end of the grease gun barrel fully.

Remove the tab from the exposed end of the grease cartridge, in a manner similar to opening a soda can. Dispose of the tab.

Screw the grease gun head onto the barrel by threading it on clockwise. Tighten the head by hand.

Release the follower rod and press it into the grease gun barrel.

Tips & Warnings
Reload the grease gun with the same type grease as the old - never mix grease types.
