How to Recycle Posters Made Out of Recycled Materials

How to Recycle Posters Made Out of Recycled Materials thumbnail
Paper is one of the easiest items to recycle.

Paper is the most commonly recycled material in the United States, and it's easy to find and use recycled paper. Paper can be recycled many times--each time, though, it tends to become slightly gray in color. Recycling a poster made of recycled materials is easy. Another part of recycling is reusing, so you can also save and reuse portions of the poster. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Donate the poster to a school, nonprofit organization or local business if the content is applicable. For example, if the poster contains educational material, a school or nonprofit can display it in a classroom or office. Or, a local business can showcase community information or artwork.

    • 2

Remove any non-paper items from the poster, and sort them by type. This could include plastic, metal and cloth such as ribbons. If there's glitter on the poster, gently scrape it off into a plastic bag for later use or into the garbage; glitter is not recyclable in the traditional sense.

    • 3

Cut out any portions of the poster you'd like to reuse. Photos, words or phrases and other aesthetically pleasing parts of the poster can be reused in collages, artwork and future posters.

    • 4

Recycle all of the materials you're not planning to reuse. If you have curbside recycling, put them into your recycling bin. If you have sorted recycling, put paper and plastic in the appropriate bins. If you don't have curbside recycling, drop off the items at your local recycling center.
