How to Cover a Bucket Seat With a Seat Cover

Clean, new-looking seats make for a clean, new-looking car interior. Seat covers are an economical option for car owners with damaged or stained seats who do not have the funds to have vehicle seats reupholstered but want its interior looking nice. Seat covers are made for seats of all types, from bucket seats to bench seats. To install a seat cover on a bucket seat, it must be done one section at a time.

      Push the headrest release button and remove the headrest from the seat, if the headrest is removable.

      Slide the backrest portion of the seat cover over the back of the seat. Bucket seat covers come in two or three sections: a backrest section, a bottom section and an optional headrest section. Line the seams of the seat cover up with the sides of the backrest so the seat cover goes on straight.

      Pull the backrest section down completely and pull the straps on the bottom through the gap in between the backrest and bottom section of the seat.

      Slide the bottom section's seat cover over the bottom section of the seat. Line up the seams with the sides of the seat. Pull the straps through the gap in between the backrest and bottom section of the seat.

      Smooth out the backrest and bottom section of the seat cover.

      Hook the straps pulled through the seat onto the frame underneath the seat. Hook the straps on the front of the seat onto the frame underneath the seat.

      Reinstall the headrest. Slide the headrest cover over the top of the headrest until the headrest is covered completely. If possible, tuck the headrest cover under the plastic of the headrest post to conceal the seat cover.
