How to Change a PCMCIA Card to a USB
PCMCIA cards are used to easily connect certain hardware to PCMCIA ports in laptop computers. For example, wireless cards come in a PCMCIA format that users can insert into a laptop for easy access to wireless networks. Some laptops, however, do not have PCMCIA slots and therefore cannot accept these cards. Fortunately, PCMCIA cards can be converted to the widely used USB format with the right equipment.

Insert your PCMCIA card into the port on your PCMCIA-to-USB adapter.

Connect the USB end of the adapter to an available USB port on your PC. This should automatically launch the "Add Hardware" wizard.

Select the "Next" button on the add hardware wizard, and the computer should automatically detect the new PCMCIA hardware.
