Knowing the model number of your unit allows you to download new maps when updates are available, get replacement parts or manuals, and follow directions online to troubleshoot your unit if something were to go wrong.       Visit the "Which TomTom device do I have?" page on the TomTom official website. (See References)

      Look at your device to find the serial number. The serial number can be found on the bottom of your unit, usually next to the bar code.

      Type the first two characters of the serial number into the text box on the Web page and click the "Find" link.

      View your device model on the page that appears and write it down with pen and paper for future reference.
