Xerox offers free shipping labels for the return and recycling of toner cartridges.

In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, Xerox formed the Green World Alliance reuse/recycle program. Through this program, Xerox encourages its customers to recycle ink and toner cartridges. According to Xerox, customers kept 2.5 million cartridges and containers out of landfills by returning them to Xerox for reuse.

Upon request, Xerox provides customers with prepaid shipping labels to return spent materials, including toner cartridges. The step-by-step process on the Green World Alliance website helps customers select the materials to be returned and provides details on how to package and send the items.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the Xerox Green World Alliance website.

    • 2

Select your home country from the drop-down menu and click "Continue."

    • 3

Click on the button for the type of machine you have. You can select "Multifunction, Copiers, Production Printers and Fax Machines" or "Office Printers." Click "Continue."

    • 4

Select your toner cartridge part number from the Used Xerox Cartridges drop-down menu. When you select the number, a new window will open for the shipping label information.

    • 5

Type your name and address. Select the number of labels you need from the drop-down menu. You can return several cartridges at once, but each should be packaged in a separate box and will require a separate shipping label. Click "Submit." The shipping label will open in a new window.

    • 6

      Print the shipping label.

    • 7

Package the empty toner cartridge in the box the new cartridge came in.

    • 8

Tape the shipping label to the outside of the package.

    • 9

Give the package to UPS for shipping. You can take the package to any UPS location or UPS store or call 800-PICK-UPS (800-724-5877) to arrange for pickup at your home or office. You can also schedule a pickup or find a dropoff location on the UPS website.
