How to Convert Publications to Ebooks
Due to environmental issues and the advancement of technology, it is becoming increasingly popular to send publications electronically. The range of documents sent electronically ranges from leaflets and reports to full books. The PDF file format developed by Adobe allows the document to be read in the same format, no matter what device it is opened on, making it the format used for ebooks. You can convert a publication to PDF format for an ebook using a number of applications.

Microsoft Word

Open the document in Microsoft Word. Either right-click on the file name and select "Open with Microsoft Word" from the "Open With" sub-menu, or click on the "File" menu in Microsoft Word and the "Open" option. Click on the file name and "Open" button to open the document.

Click on the "File" menu. Click on "Save As."

Enter the name of the saved document in the "Save As" field. From the "Format" drop-down menu, select PDF. Click "Save" to save the file in an ebook format.
NovaPDF

Navigate to the Publisher to PDF website (see "Resources"). Click the "Download novaPDF" button. The download will begin automatically. Open the downloaded software and follow the installation wizard directions to install it.

Open the file that you wish to convert to PDF in the software program that can read it such as a word processor or publishing software.

In the "File" options select "Print." In the "Printer Name" drop-down field, select "novaPro PDF server V6." Click on "Print." A PDF document will be created and appear in the PDF viewer window. Save the new PDF file.
Primo PDF

Navigate to the Primo PDF website (see "Resources"). Click on the gray "Download Free" button. Open the downloaded file. Follow the installation wizard to install the software.

Open the Primo PDF software. Click on the "ebook" template button at the top of the window to optimize the final file for presentation on an ereader.

Drag and drop the file to be converted into the Primo PDF window. Click the "Convert" button to begin the conversion.
