How to Make a Twirling Wind Spinner
Wind spinners are spirals of material that can be hung up outdoors to twirl in the breeze and add interest to your outdoor space. They can be made from almost any material including paper plates, card stock, metal wire and used pop bottles, making them inexpensive items to make at home.

Lay the strip of card stock on a flat surface and place the edge of the ruler 3/4 inch from one end.

Fold the end of the card stock up against the edge of the ruler to create a crease.

Repeat this process along the length of the card stock, creating creases at 3/4-inch intervals.

Place the edge of the ruler diagonally from the top left corner to the bottom right corner of the first 3/4-inch section of card stock.

Fold the card stock up against the edge of the ruler to create a diagonal crease across the section.

Repeat this process along the length of the card stock, creating diagonal creases in all of the 3/4-inch sections.

Fold the card stock along the diagonal crease toward you, then along the straight crease away from you, working your way from one end to the other. The card stock should form an octagon shape as you fold.

Punch a hole through the final folded section using the hole punch and tie a length of string through the hole.

Gently pull the ends away from each other to create a double helix shape. Hang the spinner up in your porch or garden.

Tips & Warnings
Make the spinner as long or as short as you like by taping pieces of card stock together or cutting them down.
Use brightly colored or two-sided card stock with a different color on either side to brighten up your garden.
Draw designs and paint glitter onto your spinner for a personalized look.
