Virtual meetings occur when the attendees and facilitator are in different locations. They can occur through teleconference, videoconference or web conference offered through an online meeting website. Even though the attendees are not in the same location, attendance may be necessary. There are ways to track attendance depending on the style of the virtual meeting.
Take a verbal attendance count. For teleconferences, call out the name of each participant and check them off a prepared list.
Similarly, in videoconferences ask the participants to stand in view of the camera when their names are called, providing a verbal and visual head count.
Manage attendance for large web conferences through the virtual meeting program software. In some online programs, the facilitator can see the names of the participants and attendance can be taken that way. Other programs allow participants to sign in for attendance. Examples of virtual meeting programs that offer attendance features include WebEx, GoToMeeting and ReadyTalk.
