Orbitz is an online travel company that offers a wide range of options for travelers. Users come to the website to place their reservations for cars, packages, hotels and more. But sometimes the unexpected happens and you have to cancel your travels plans. Orbitz makes it convenient for the customer in this situation, as most reservations can be cancelled online.
Log onto the Orbitz website. Click “My Trips” on the upper right side of the website.
Locate your reservation and then select “Cancel.” Read the terms and be aware that some hotels may charge cancellation fees, while Orbitz will not. For example, if you cancel within 24 hours of a “Low Price Guarantee” hotel reservation check-in time, refunds are usually not granted.
Check the box to agree to the terms. Wait for an email confirmation of your cancellation. In some cases, hotel cancellations are not available online. In this is the case, you are notified with a message which will include the hotel’s telephone number, so you can call the hotel directly to cancel. If you are able to cancel online, the refund should show on your credit or debit card within a 5-day period.
Locate your package reservation code. You can find this number in “My Trips” where your Orbitz package information is stored.
Contact Orbitz customer service. You can reach them at 1-888-656-4546. Provide your package reservation code, when asked by the representative.
Prepare to pay cancellation fees. How much you pay is dependent on the date of your cancellation. If you cancel less than 24 hours prior to departure, you will not receive any refund. For every 1 day before your departure date you will receive $25 less than your refund amount. You will receive your package refund within 45 days of cancellation.
Click on “My Trips.” Find your car reservation.
Select “Cancel car reservation.” Confirm your cancellation to complete. Use this step if you have made a car reservation without placing a deposit. Otherwise you need to call the rental car company directly.
Call the rental car company to cancel a reservation with deposit. To find the phone number, go under “My Trips,” find your car rental reservation and select “View full trip details.”
Review the rules, restrictions and fees for canceling your airline ticket. You can find this information under “My Trips” and then selection “View full trip details.”
Select “Change/cancel ticket.” This option is located in your flight reservation, under “My Trips.”
Follow the guided prompts. The prompts will take you through the cancellation process for your airline ticket.
