Cablevision is a cable television, Internet and phone service provider. When you obtain cable services through Cablevision, you will be given a Scientific Atlanta cable box to use in conjunction with your service. If the cable box is freezing, failing to change channels or malfunctioning, resetting the device may fix the problems. There are two ways to reset a Scientific Atlanta box and it makes no difference which option you choose. If the problems continue after the box has been reset, contact Cablevision for further troubleshooting advice or to make arrangements for obtaining a new cable box.

Turn off your TV and cable box.

Remove the power cord from the electric outlet. Leave the cord out for five seconds before plugging it back in to the outlet.
Step 3
Press "CBL" on the remote control to turn the box on, after the cable box display changes from "Hold" to "Turn On."
Step 4
Turn on the TV once the cable box displays the time. The reboot process is complete.
Step 5
Press and hold the "VOL+," VOL-" and "INFO" buttons simultaneously until the cable box turns off. Once the cable box turns off, release the buttons. The cable box will begin resetting.
Step 6
Press "CBL" on the remote control to turn the box on, after the cable box display changes from "Hold" to "Turn On."
Step 7
Turn on the TV once the cable box displays the time. The reboot process is complete.
