The detention center will respond to telephone calls at 703-746-5000 from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. This number connects you to the detention center's records department and will only be answered during the department's business hours. Provide the inmate's complete name and date of birth or Social Security number when you call.

Call the Detention Center after business hours. After 6 p.m. and prior to 6 a.m., call 703-746-5050 to locate an inmate. This number connects you to an officer in the detention center's booking department who will provide you with inmate information when the records department is closed. Supply the inmate's complete name and date of birth or Social Security number.

If you cannot contact the detention center by telephone, write a letter to the detention center asking for the inmate's location. Include the inmate's name and Social Security number or date of birth in your letter. Also provide your return address and contact information so that the detention center can respond to your request for information.

Click the link for "Virginia Statewide VINE." This will take you to the "Virginia Statewide VINE" information page. Click the "Search & Register for Offenders" button in the top left-hand side of the page.

Click the option for "Choose Facility" and pick "Alexandria City Jail" in the drop-down menu. Provide the inmate's "Offender Identification Number" or his full name, then click the "Search" button. You may also provide the inmate's birth date or age range to narrow the results.
