How to Fix a Transfer Roller
If you own a laser printer, the transfer roller plays an important role in the functionality of the unit and the quality of the printouts it produces. Over time, paper dust and ink residue from the toner cartridge can stain the transfer roller, and when that happens you might see a marked deterioration in the quality of the work the printer produces. You might also begin to experience frequent paper jams, particularly under the toner cartridge.
Things You'll Need
- Soft lint-free cloth
- Small flathead screwdriver or transfer roller hook
Instructions
-
-
1
Open the toner cartridge door on the printer and remove the toner cartridge. Set the toner cartridge aside.
-
2
Use the transfer roller removal tool you received with your last maintenance kit to carefully lift the left side of the transfer roller. You can use a small flat head screwdriver to carefully pry the left side of the roller up if you do not have that tool. Touch only the side of the roller--never touch the surface of the transfer roller itself.
