How to Prevent XM Online From Timing Out

XM Satellite Radio is available online to subscribers who pay for the Premium XM Radio Online upgrade option. This allows the subscriber to listen to XM Satellite Radio on any computer they are at as long as they sign in with their username and password. One common problem while listening online is that the program will timeout if the computer you are listening on is not kept active. This can be especially frustrating if you want to listen to your favorite XM station online but do not want to constantly move the computer's mouse to keep it active. There is a free application that prevents the timing out from happening and offers other enhancement for both XM and Sirius online.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the "XMTuner" website (see Resources).

    • 2

Click the "Download XMTuner" link at the top of the website to download the latest version. Open the newly downloaded file. A window will pop up. Select "Next" to start the setup wizard.

    • 3

Select "Next" to start the installation. It should finish loading in several minutes. After loading is complete, click the "Close" tab to close the setup wizard.

    • 4

Open the "XMTuner" folder located on the desktop or in "Programs."

    • 5

Click the "XMTuner" icon and select "Configure."

    • 6

Enter your XM or Sirus online username and password in the given fields under the "Login" tab. The XMTuner application acts as a front end for the Sirius or XM web feed, so the username and password are the same that you use when logging in to listen online.

    • 7

Select "Save Configuration." You are now logged into XM or Sirus Satellite Radio online and can control the stations you want to listen to through the XMTuner device, which will not timeout.

Tips & Warnings

  • XMTuner is for Windows only and works for both XM and Sirius Satellite Radio.
