How to Print on Envelopes With an iP4500
If you want to send professional correspondence, or simply think your handwriting is too terrible for the postal service to read, you can print labels on your envelopes. With desktop publishing software, and a printer with an envelope tray, such as the Canon Pixma iP4500, you can print return addresses and mailing addresses on your number ten business envelopes. You can purchase the number ten envelopes -- 4 1/8-inch by 9 1/2-inch in dimension -- from any office supply store.

1
Create your address entry into the desktop publishing software. To do this set up your software to print an envelope. Type your return address, where you are mailing the letter from, and the mailing address, or where the letter is going to, in the software.
-
2
Set your printer to print the envelope. Lift the document feeder back and load your envelopes into the tray designed especially for envelope printing.

3
Load your envelope into the document tray. When loading your envelopes, ensure they are straight so they do not curl when they are feeding through the printer. Also make sure that you load the envelopes so that the flap of the envelope is on the top and left, so that the label prints on the correct side of the envelope.
-
4
Adjust the tray to the envelope. After the envelopes are loaded, adjust the tray to fit the envelope exactly. This will prevent crinkling and give you an even print. If the envelopes aren't in the tray correctly, the envelope could turn sideways and your address will print that way onto the envelope.
-
5
Print your envelope. Go back to your computer and select the "Print" button to print out your envelope. If you are printing several at one time, proceed to printing them all now.
-
6
Remove the envelope from the printer output tray. Refrain from immediately touching the ink to avoid any smearing. Once dry, stuff your envelope and mail it.
