How to Change Car Speakers in a Mitsubishi Mirage

The compact Mitsubishi Mirage, produced from 1990 to 2002, was equipped with two pairs of speakers. One pair was mounted in the front doors and the other in the rear doors. The speakers were round and measured 6-3/4 inches in diameter. Many compatible aftermarket models are available. Replacement can be accomplished with simple hand tools.

      Pry off the triangular "sail panel" at the front upper edge of the door panel with a panel removal tool.

      Pry out the round plastic screw cover in the upper-front side of the door panel and remove the Phillips screw from underneath. Remove Phillips screws from the bottom of the door cup, from the back edge of the door panel and from the trim behind the door handle

      Pull on the edges of the door panel, working around the circumference until it is completely loose. Lift the door panel off the door.

      Remove four Phillips screws from the perimeter of the speaker. Pull out the speaker and disconnect the speaker wire plug.

      Connect the speaker wire plug to the new speaker. Place the speaker into the door and screw it in place with the Phillips screws. Test the speaker and replace the door panel.
