The operating instructions for a Tom Tom GPS are simple to follow and remember.

It can be hard to navigate through an area with which you are unfamiliar. To solve this problem, the Tom Tom company produces a line of global positioning systems that you can install in your vehicle to help you reach your destination quickly and safely regardless of where you are and where you need to go. By using the Tom Tom GPS system's touchscreen technology, you can easily program in an address and the device will synchronize with a satellite system to give you the best possible route. The operating instructions for the Tom Tom are an easy process to remember.

      Turn on the Tom Tom GPS system by pressing the "Power" button on the top of the device. Do this only after the system is secured in place in your vehicle. It is dangerous to enter in information into the GPS while driving, so follow these instructions before you begin your journey or pull over to a safe parking spot.

      Wait for the device to power on. You will be taken to the main screen when it does. Push the "Navigate To" option on the main menu with your finger to begin entering in a desired destination.

      Choose "Address" to enter in the address of the location you are traveling to or choose "Google Search" to search for a location. Regardless of which option you choose, you will need to select the city in which you are traveling. Type in the first few letters of the city name using the touchscreen keyboard that appears on screen. A list of cities will appear. Push the one you want with your finger.

      Use the touchscreen keypad to type in the street name or the name of the location you want to go to depending on your choice in Step 3. Type in the first few letters and then select your choice from the list that appears.

      Enter in the house number using the number pad that appears on screen if you are traveling to an address. When your destination is entered, the Tom Tom GPS will ask if you need to get to your destination by a certain time. Select "No" if you do not or "Yes" to go to a screen where you can input the time you need to arrive by. When all the settings are entered, press the "Done" button that appears onscreen and you will see a moving map and hear voice commands to aid you to your destination.
