How to Use Dremels for Polishing
You can use your Dremel tool for small polishing jobs. Purchase optional Dremel polishing wheels and polishing compounds or purchase Dremel felt wheels. Both types of wheel will work on polishing projects. The polishing compound has a grit to it and may make the polishing process a little easier than the felt wheel, but you can use the felt wheel for more delicate projects. Test each wheel on a hidden part of your surface first to determine which will work best for your specific project. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Attach your polishing wheel or felt wheel to your Dremel tool. If you choose to use the felt wheel, you do not need to use the polishing compound.
-
2
Test your polishing on a surface such as scrap wood before you begin your polishing project, to get a feel for how much pressure you will need to apply. Dremel's website warns that polishing could take some getting used to, so practice first.

Start your Dremel tool and keep it on a low speed. If you are using the polishing wheel, rub some of the polishing compound on the wheel. You will only need to use a little of the polishing compound. Also, apply a bit of the compound to the surface you want to polish. You can skip this step if you are using the felt wheel.

4
Turn your Dremel's speed up to medium.
-
5
Polish your material slowly and without much pressure. Stop and add polishing compound as needed, but remember to only use a little at a time.
