Microsoft Word is a word processing application that comes as part of the Microsoft Office productivity suite. Users can create assorted types of documents and include media objects, such as images and hyperlinks. A hyperlink in a Word document can even point back to a location or object contained within that Word document. In order to create this link, it is necessary to create a "bookmark." A bookmark can define any location within the Word document, such as a specific word or image. It can even be attached to an image of a barcode.

Instructions

      Click the "Start" or Windows button in the lower left corner of the screen, then click "Programs" or "All Programs."

      Scroll to "Microsoft Office" and select it, then click the "Microsoft Word" option.

      Click the Office button in the top left corner of the screen, then choose the "Open" option.

      Navigate to your Word document containing the barcode, then click the "Open" button.

      Click once on the barcode to select it. If your barcode is actually made from a barcode font, then you will need to select all of the barcode by clicking on the left side of it, then dragging the mouse across the barcode until you have selected all of it.

      Click the "Insert" tab at the top of the screen.

      Select the "Bookmark" button in the "Links" section at the top of the screen.

      Type a name for the bookmark into the field at the top of the window under "Bookmark name."

      Click the "Add" button. Press "Ctrl + S" to save the document.

Tips & Warnings

  • To create a hyperlink to your bookmark, click the "Hyperlink" button on the "Insert" tab, then choose the "Place in this document" option form the left column. Choose the name of the bookmark from the center window, then click the "OK" button.
