How to Patch an Above Ground Pool Wall

How to Patch an Above Ground Pool Wall thumbnail
Prevent water loss by patching your above ground pool wall.

Above ground swimming pools are a less expensive alternative to the typical inground pool. Above ground pools use a vinyl liner instead of the concrete or gunite surfaces of an inground pool. This liner serves as the pool wall and bottom and prevents water from leaving the pool. If a hole in the vinyl material composing the pool wall appears for any number of reasons, it can be repaired with a vinyl patch. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Use scissors to cut a circle out of vinyl patch material that is nearly twice as big as the hole being patched.

    • 2

Apply a vinyl adhesive to one side of the vinyl patch. Both water-resistant and waterproof adhesive can be used.

    • 3

Press the center of the patch firmly to the hole in the wall. Smooth out the patch by hand and hold the patch firmly to the wall for 30 seconds. Wait at least 30 minutes before filling the pool with water.

Tips & Warnings

  • Most vinyl patch adhesives come bundled with the material itself.

  • Always check the adhesive packaging before attempting to apply the patch under water.
