How to Transfer Your Contacts to Droid

With the use of more and more devices in everyone's daily lives, it is important to keep the data you need on a daily basis updated and comparable on everything you use from cell phones to laptops to PDAs. Nothing is as important as your list of contacts. It does not matter whether you need these contacts for business or personal reasons. Your contacts are important to you. Droid phones are modeled after the iPhone, and using these ideas, transferring contacts from any device to your Droid will make you feel better knowing you have this valuable data with you.

  • Power on your Droid by pressing the power button located at the top of the phone and look at the charge indicator to make sure you have a well-charged battery.

  • Check to see if you have the application called "Back Up Assistant" in your menu. If not, download it.

  • Run the Back Up Assistant program on your Droid and follow the on-screen instructions to back up your data. When this is complete, press the soft key to the right of the keypad to signify "OK" on the screen.

  • Find the Back Up Assistant again and press the same soft key to the right of the keypad. In this mode find "My Verizon." Once there, find "My Personal Account." Choose this option.

  • Sign in by entering your 10-digit cell number and your pass code. Go to "Manage My Contacts."

  • Choose the option "Export to CVS" and "Save." Go to Gmail and log on using your Gmail user name and password.

  • Go to "Contacts," which is on the upper left-hand part of the Gmail screen. Choose this option and then click on "Import." You will see the option "File Browse." Choose this and find ".CVS." You will have the option to click on "CGoose/Open." Click on this.

  • Click on "Import" and follow that by clicking "OK." Wait until the contacts have finished importing and power down your phone and power it on again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always keep a copy of your contacts somewhere other than your devices.
  • Use blind copies when sending an email to more than one person so that nobody's email address falls into unwanted hands.
