How to Change the Battery in a Nissan Armada Key Fob

Introduced for the 2004 model year, the Nissan Armada is a full-size sports utility vehicle with a five-speed automatic transmission and a choice between rear-wheel and four-wheel drive. If the keyless entry system in your Nissan Armada is enabled, you can use it to unlock the doors of your vehicle from a little over 30 feet away. When the range of your keyless entry fob decreases, change the battery to have it working again in no time.

Things You'll Need

  • Quarter
  • CR2025 battery
  • Lay the keyless entry fob button side up on a flat surface, such as a table or countertop. Insert the edge of a quarter into the seam on the side of the fob. Twist the quarter back and forth until the fob opens and the halves separate.

  • Lift the old battery out of the battery compartment; discard the spent battery or recycle it if the appropriate facilities are available. Put a new CR2025 battery into the fob's battery compartment with the "-" (negative) side of the battery facing upward.

  • Reassemble the Nissan Armada keyless entry fob. Fit the halves of the fob together and press them between your fingers, using a moderate amount of pressure. The halves should snap together easily.

  • Press the "Lock" button, followed by the "Unlock" button to make sure the fob is still working correctly.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're having trouble opening the keyless entry fob with a quarter, try using the tip of a plastic guitar pick.
  • Instructions for changing the battery for Nissan keyless entry fobs may vary slightly by model. Contact a Nissan dealership or service center for additional fob repair information.
