How to Fix a Mixer Device
When a mixer device is not working on your computer, this means there is some problem with the audio. To fix the problem, you will need to check the hardware drivers in use with Windows Device Manager. If this does not work, you must use the Audio Playback Troubleshooter in Windows to automatically scan your computer for any likely causes.

Check all speaker wire connections before you begin troubleshooting on the computer. Check that your speakers are plugged in and the volume is on. Turn the volume up on your computer.

Click "Start," right-click "Computer" and click "Properties." Click "Device Manager" on the left of the window.

Click the arrow to the left of "Sound, video and game controllers." Right-click the name of the sound card installed on your computer.

Click "Uninstall" and "OK." Click the "Action" menu and "Scan for hardware changes." Restart your computer.

Click "Start" and type "troubleshooter" if the problem persists. Click "Find and fix problems."

Click "Troubleshoot audio playback" under the Hardware and Sound section. Click "Next" and follow the steps on-screen to have the troubleshooter automatically check for problems. Close any open windows when you are done.
