DIY Parisian Place Card Holders

Wine corks make clever Parisian place card holders.

Making Parisian place card holders is an easier project that you might at first think. These place card holders use two common sights in Paris to create place card holders that guests will enjoy. The mixture of the wine cork and the Eiffel tower-shaped place card will instantly bring Paris to mind. These place card holders are very easy and fast to make. They are ideal for large gatherings where many place card holders are necessary.

Things You'll Need

• One cork for each party guest
• Craft knife
• Small magnets (two for each cork)
• Hot glue gun
• Cardstock
• Scissors

Instructions

1. Cut each cork lengthwise halfway through with a craft knife. Make sure that you do not cut all the way through the cork or cut your hand. You may have to make a second cut in the cork and remove the tiny piece of cork from the center to make the slit large enough to slip the place card through.

2. Draw the outline of the Eiffel towel or a fleur-de-lis on card stock. Make the base of the tower as wide as the cork pieces. Leave enough room on the paper to write the guests' names. Write the names of each guest on the place cards.

3. Hot glue a piece of magnet to the bottom of each cork. Let the glue dry. If your tables are not metal, place one strip of magnet under the tablecloth. Set the cork place cards over the magnet strips under the tablecloth to keep the place cards from tipping over. If you do not want to magnetize the corks to the table, the weight of the small magnet should be strong enough to keep the cork piece upright at the table.

4. Slip the Eifel tower place cards into the slit in the top of each cork piece.
