How to Set an Electric Timer
Electric timers are useful for controlling lighting and appliances. A timer can turn off radios or televisions at a desired time at night or turn holiday lighting on and off. A timer can be a safety device while you are away from home by turning various lights on and off, giving the appearance of your residence being occupied. There are many uses for an electric timer. 24 hour plug in timer Grasp the outer portion of the timer dial and rotate it to display the current time of day in the small center window. If there is no center window, then align the current time to a mark near the edge of the dial. Some timers are marked light and dark to indicate a.m. or p.m. while other timers display a 24-hour day.

Set the timer start time by inserting one of the green clips into a slot in the outer dial that indicates the time for power turn on. Next, insert a red clip into a slot that indicates the time you want the power to turn off.

Insert the timer plug into a receptacle and plug the device to be controlled into the timer. Use an extension cord if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Some timers have four clips, two red and two green. These timers can turn lights on and off twice a day. Insert the clips in a red-green, red-green sequence.
