How to Use TaylorMade R7 Limited Driver Weights
Golf club and golf ball technology increased the ability of even average golfers to hit longer, straighter, more accurate shots. Driver head size and the implementation of the whiplike graphite shafts, while aiding in distance and accuracy, did little to help shape shots. Enter the TaylorMade r7 Limited Driver. This club has three movable weights -- a 16-gram weight and two 1-gram weights, located in the club head. These weights are moved to create changes in distance and trajectory.

1
Move the 16 gram weight to the heel to create a draw, where the ball goes from right to left for a right-handed golfer and vice versa for a left-hander. The draw shot generally adds roll distance to the shot. For those players who have an easy time drawing their shots naturally, this may cause hooked shots. This setup is best for those who have a problem with slicing their shots.
-
2
Move the 16-gram weight to the toe to create a fade, where the ball travels from left to right for a right-hander. This shot is often used around dogleg corners. A failure to release the club or get through the shot could result in a very straight shot -- that goes very far right.

3
Position the 16-gram weight in the center with a 1-gram weight on either side. This allows for a straight shot with no fade or draw bias.
-
4
Practice with the different weight setups. The stock weights may not suit every player's swing. After exhausting all arrangements, you may find it necessary to substitute different weights for those provided from the manufacturer.
-
5
Choose the club-face loft. Select from 8.5-, 9.5-, 10.5-, or 11.5-degree lofts for right-handers; or from 9.5- or 10.5-degree lofts for left-handers. Keep in mind that the Limited produces more spin than most drivers. Combined with a high loft, this could create balloon shots in windy conditions.
-
6
Choose the appropriate shaft. The Matrix X-Con 5.5 MOI shaft is available in supple, rigid or medium.
