How to Make Shoelace Designs
If you want to give your lace-up shoes some personality and make them stand out, create a colorful design with your shoelaces. You can use shoelaces of different colors to weave a pattern on the front of your shoes. A few of the patterns let you slip your shoes off and on, so you don't have to tie them anymore.

1
Feed the end of one of the shoelaces up through the inside of the hole on the upper right of the shoe. Pull it through; feed it down through the hole directly across from it. Feed the end of the shoelace up through the bottom of the hole directly below the last one and down through the hole directly across from it. Repeat this pattern until you get to the last hole, so that your shoelace looks like rungs on a ladder. Adjust the tightness so that you can easily slide the shoe on and off of your foot.

2
Pick up the other shoelace (of a different color) and weave it up and down through the pattern you created with the first shoelace, starting on the far left. Start by going over the bottom rung and then under the second one from the bottom. Repeat until you get to the top rung.

Go over the top rung; start weaving down next to the first set of weaves. Repeat weaving up and down across the rungs until you get the far right and you can't go any farther. Finish by tucking the loose ends of the shoelaces into the shoe.

Tie the ends of two different color shoelaces together if you want one shoe to have two different color laces. If you want only one color for each shoe, use one shoelace. Feed the end of the shoelace straight across the two holes on the very bottom, so that the ends come up from the bottom.

5
Take the end on the left in one hand and the end on the right in your other hand. Loop them together like you are going to tie them. The end that was on the left is now on the right and vice versa. Feed the ends through the holes on each side, coming up from the bottom.
-
6
Repeat step 2 until you get to the top of the shoe. Tuck the ends of the shoelace in so that you can slip the shoes on and off.
