It is possible to cancel out any Internet connection on your laptop computer.

Although most laptop computers now come with a built-in wireless Internet card, it is possible to install the necessary hardware through a laptop card modem. When using the card with a Wi-Fi network, the hardware is enabled. That allows the computer to receiver wireless Internet signals. However, if you want to block the computer from receiving any of these signals, you need to "bust," or cancel, the current Wi-Fi hook-up on the laptop.

Instructions

    • 1

Power on the laptop computer and wait for the operating system to run through its start-up cycle.

    • 2

Right-click the wireless icon in the lower-right corner of the desktop. This brings up an "options" menu.

    • 3

Select "Disable." Momentarily, the wireless icon blinks off, and any light on the computer indicating a wireless connection turns off. This cancels out the Wi-Fi signal on your computer system.

    • 4

Activate the wireless connection on your computer at any time again by right-clicking the icon and choose "Enable."
