For those involved in a business event, it is important to represent the company or cause in every way--including the uniform that is worn. If a hard hat is a part of the required wardrobe, you can easily customize your hard hat by using personalized decals.
Things You'll Need
- Computer graphics software
- Inkjet printer
- Inkjet decal paper
- Fixative spray (if stated on decal paper packaging)
- Paper towel
Create your design by hand and scan it in to your computer; or create it directly on the computer using available photos and fonts. Then open the design in your graphics software program like Photo Shop or Microsoft Word and size it to 5 inches wide by 3 inches high--the size of an oval hard hat decal.
Print your design on a regular sheet of paper first as a test copy. Make any necessary adjustments to the design. When you are content with the results, print the design on decal paper using an inkjet printer.
If your brand of inkjet decal paper requires a fixative, spray a light coating onto your design and allow it to air dry. Then spray a heavier coating at a 90 degree angle over top of the primary coating and allow it to dry, as directed on the packaging (typically at least one hour).
Use scissors to cut your decal to the proper size for your hat. Soak the decal in a bowl of water for 45-60 seconds, or use a damp cloth to blot at both sides of the surface.
Place your decal over the hard hat's flat surface, and remove the backing paper. Smooth over the decal with your thumb until secure. Gently wipe the decal with a paper towel to remove any excess fluid.
