How to Retrieve a Contact Lens Lost in the Drain
Dropping a contact lens down the drain can be a poor way to start or end your day. Chances are, the fallen contact was one half of your very last pair. Be sure to keep plenty of contact solution on hand to sterilize the contact once you recover it, as putting the lens back into your eye uncleaned can lead to an infection. Wear eye glasses, if you have a pair, while trying to retrieve the lost contact. Since contact lenses are difficult to see, even with perfect vision, trying to retrieve one with compromised vision will be even more challenging. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

Cottom Swab
-
1
Shine a light, such as a flashlight, into the drain to help locate the lens. The lens may reflect the light back at you.
-
2
Gently poke the cotton swab around the top sides of the drain. Use the swab in lieu of a sharp, hard tool such as tweezers. The contact is more likely to stick to the cotton for removal and will likely not damage the delicate contact like a pair of tweezers could.
-
-
3
Carefully raise the cotton swab up to see if the lens adhered to it.
-
4
Poke the swab deeper into the hole, raising it frequently to check for the missing lens.

Find the P-trap below your sink. This is the pipe that will typically connect the sink to the wall.
-
6
Place a bucket under the P-trap to catch excess water.
-
7
Loosen the two nuts that are holding the P-trap in place and remove the trap.
-
8
Check the trap for the contact lens. If it is not there, check the bucket as it may have escaped with the water.
