Syringes are needed to transfer the ink into the cartridge.

The Hewlett-Packard 93 is a color ink cartridge that has three separate chambers for cyan, yellow and magenta ink. The HP 93 is used in many different models of HP inkjet printers. When the ink level runs low, you can refill the cartridge instead of replacing it. It is important to follow the correct procedure when refilling the cartridge to avoid damaging the cartridge or causing problems with the printer it is installed in.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the cartridge on a level surface with some paper towels underneath to absorb any spilled ink.

    • 2

Position the cartridge so you are looking straight down at the top label and the wording is right-side up.

    • 3

Peel the label off the top of the cartridge.

    • 4

Fill a syringe with 5 milliliter of yellow ink. Fill one with 5 milliliter of cyan ink. Fill a syringe with 5 milliliter of magenta ink.

    • 5

Insert the needle of the yellow ink syringe into the refill hole closest to the top of the cartridge, located an equal distance between the right and left sides. Slowly inject the ink into the cartridge.

    • 6

Insert the needle of the magenta ink cartridge into the refill hole in the lower left corner when looking straight down on the top of the cartridge. Slowly inject the ink into the ink chamber.

    • 7

Insert the needle of the cyan ink syringe into the hole in the lower right corner when looking straight down at the top of the cartridge. Slowly inject the ink.

    • 8

Replace the cartridge into the HP printer. Allow it to rest for at least 8 hours so the ink can flow to the bottom of the ink chambers.

Tips & Warnings

  • Run one to three print head cleaning cycles on the printer to get the ink flowing if printouts appear faded at first.
