How to Unlock House Doors

To unlock a door, all you need is the right key.

Unlocking a house door is a simple operation that can be accomplished by anyone with the right key. If you have the wrong key, it won't work so well. Locks are ingeniously designed so that only one key can work in them. Otherwise, anyone with any key could unlock them. This would defeat the purpose of the lock.

1. Approach the door. If you turn the handle and push and it won't open, this means that the door is locked. Locate your key. If you don't have a key, you won't be able to unlock the house door.

2. Put the key into the lock. The lock may be located on the doorknob itself, or elsewhere on the door, or be inserted or on top of the surface of the door as a retrofit.

3. Turn the key. This activates the tumblers inside the lock, and causes the bolt to retract out of the door frame and into the body of the lock. You have now unlocked the house door.

4. Turn the knob. Open the door by pushing on it and allowing it to swing inward. Step through the opening. You are now inside the house.

5. Close the door behind you. Lock it again if you want to prevent anyone else from entering.
