How to Unblock ActiveX in Windows

Designed and first distributed by Microsoft in 1996, the ActiveX framework was developed to manage and integrate software components in Internet Explorer. To use ActiveX in Windows, you will need to enable its use through the Tools settings in Internet Explorer.

Instructions

1. Launch Internet Explorer, click "Tools" in the menu and select "Internet Options."

2. Click the "Security" tab and click the "Custom Level" button.

3. Scroll down the list of security settings and click "Prompt" or "Enable" beneath all of the ActiveX headers and click the "OK" button.
