How to Use Fels Naptha

Fels-Naptha soap is inexpensive and easy to use as a stain remover.

Fels-Naptha is a simple bar of golden-colored soap that has been in use for more than 100 years. It is used primarily for pre-treating laundry stains. The manufacturer of Fels-Naptha, the Dial Corp., claims the product works especially well on oil-based stains like chocolate, makeup, baby formula and perspiration.

Things You'll Need

• Water
• Cheese grater

Instructions

1. Dampen a bar of Fels-Naptha in water.

2. Rub the stain with the wet bar of soap.

3. Allow the garment to sit for a few minutes, and then launder as usual.

4. Grate approximately 1/16 of the whole bar and add it directly to the laundry load along with your regular detergent for clothes that need heavy-duty cleaning.

Tips & Warnings

• The manufacturers of Fels-Naptha recommend the product for removing traces of poison ivy resin from clothing. Use the grated soap method to wash coats, gloves and any other items that may have come in contact with poison ivy or poison oak.
