How to Create a Tri-Page Brochure

How to Create a Tri-Page Brochure thumbnail
Designing a brochure may be easier than you think.

Brochures put information in the hands of people who want to know more about your business or organization, but want to learn it at their own convenience. Brochures are not cheap. A basic tri-fold brochure can cost $500 to $700, according to the Small Business Bible website. This may or may not include printing, which can cost as much as the design or more, depending on where you do business. For a small business or organization, this can be a big chunk of the budget. Designing your own brochure is easier than you might think.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new Microsoft Word document. Click on the "Page Layout" tab at the top of the screen. Click on the arrow under "Orientation," and select "Landscape."

    • 2

Create three columns by clicking on "Columns" (still under the "Page Layout" tab). Select the picture with three columns.

    • 3

Click the "Insert" tab and click "Blank Page" to add a second page to your project.

    • 4

      Type in your text.

    • 5

Place your cursor at the place where you want a picture, then click the "Insert" tab, then "Picture from File." Select a picture, and click "Insert" at the bottom of the box.

    • 6

Place your cursor at the place where you want clip art. Click the "Insert" tab, then "Clip Art." Find a clip art you want, click on it once, and it will appear in your brochure.

    • 7

Click each picture or clip art item and drag it to the exact spot where you want it.

    • 8

Click the corner or a picture or click art and drag to enlarge or reduce it.

    • 9

Proofread your brochure and remove errors, then print it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pick easy-to-read fonts.

  • To plan your brochure, fold a blank 8 1/25-by-11 piece of paper twice, and label each section according to the information that will go there. Use this mock brochure as a guide as you fill in the pages of your brochure.

  • Most printers do not print back-to-back automatically. If yours does not, print the first page. Reload the printed page in your printer and print the second page. Getting the page reloaded correctly so that it prints on the back of the page may take a few tries.
