How to Use Vista Tablet Handwriting Gestures

Tablet computers using Windows Vista don't have keyboards and often support handwriting with a tablet pen and specialized input panel. In addition to handwriting character recognition, you can also control handwriting input using gestures. For example, scratching out something you wrote to delete it or moving the pen in certain ways to input a backspace, tab, space or return. The writing area needs to be clear of ink before performing a backspace, tab, space or return. Performing a scratch-out gesture over something you've written is fine.

Instructions

    • 1

Scratch out and erase handwriting by touching your tablet pen to the surface of the screen, striking out the text, circling it or drawing over it with a "Z," "M" or "W" shape and lifting the pen from the screen.

    • 2

Perform a "Backspace" gesture by touching the tablet pen to the surface of the screen, moving it left, drawing a horizontal line and lifting the pen from the screen.

    • 3

Input a "Space" by touching the tablet pen to the surface of the screen, moving it right, drawing a horizontal line and lifting the pen from the screen.

    • 4

Draw an "Enter" gesture by touching the tablet pen to the surface of the screen, moving it down vertically and then left horizontally and lifting the pen from the screen.

    • 5

Input a "Tab" by touching the tablet pen to the surface of the screen, moving it up vertically and then right horizontally and lifting the pen from the screen.
