How to Remove One-Way Screws in Security Doors
One-way screws have a specially designed head that allows the use of a regular screwdriver to install the screws, but prevents the turning of the head in the opposite direction for removal. These one-way screws are used on security doors as a theft deterrent. When removal of a one-way screw is required, the procedure used creates an edge that can be gripped to extract the screw. Things You'll Need
- Rotary tool with grinding wheel
- Vise-grips or flat-jawed locking pliers
- Penetrating oil

Grind a flat space on two opposing sides of the one-way screw head using a rotary tool equipped with a grinding wheel.

Apply a small amount of penetrating oil to the perimeter base of the one-way screw's head. This lubricates for movement of the screw shaft during removal.

Grip the flattened sides of the one-way screw's head with a pair of vise-grips or locking pliers, then firmly turn the screw head counterclockwise to remove the screw.

Tips & Warnings
A hacksaw can also be used to remove the heads of deformed or rusted one-way screws that do not respond to this procedure.
