How to Change Your IP on Verizon FiOS

Release and renew your Internet connection to change your IP address.

FiOS high-speed Internet is a service provided by Verizon that runs on 100 percent fiber optic cables, making it one of the fastest Internet service providers in the United States, as of 2010. Each user is assigned a unique IP address, but sometimes it is necessary to change the IP when you are being bombarded with spam. Changing your IP address is an easy process, and takes just a few minutes to complete.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" on the desktop and select "All Programs."

2. Select "Accessories" and click "Command Prompt."

3. Type "ipconfig /release" in the command window and press "Enter."

4. Type "ipconfig /renew" in the command window and press "Enter" to display the new IP address.

5. Type "Exit" and press "Enter" to close the command window.
