WordPress is a popular content management system for blogs and websites.

WordPress is an online content management system that allows registered users and administrators to add, edit and delete content through a back-end interface. Users must log on to access the dashboard of the administrative interface using a unique login and password. This login is different from the public username attached to all your posts and comments on the site. Although your login name can't be changed, changing your public username is quite a simple process.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your WordPress account as usual.

    • 2

Open your profile control panel. On the left-hand menu of the dashboard, scroll down to the "Users" widget and click on "Your Profile."

    • 3

Change your public username display. This is also called a nickname. Enter your desired new public username in the field that says "Nickname (required)." In the field directly below that, which reads "Display name publicly as," select your new username from the drop-down menu. There is no need to save your settings prior to doing this; the drop-down menu will automatically populate with your new username. Click on the "Update User" button at the bottom of the screen. Your new public username is now changed.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also change your login name through phpMyAdmin by finding it in the "wp_users" table in your MySQL database, and replacing the "user_login" field with your new desired login.
