How to Stop a Nero Patent Activation
When you use Nero Burning ROM, you may find a "Nero Patent Activation" window appears. This appears when you have a pirated version of Nero. If this error occurs, you have been a victim of software pirating. To stop the Patent Activation, you must uninstall Nero, purchase a new serial number and reinstall the software. You must make sure you purchase the software from the official Nero website.

Click "Start," then "Control Panel." Click "Programs and Features." Select "Nero" from the list and select "Uninstall." Follow the on-screen instructions to fully remove your pirated edition of Nero.

Purchase a new version of Nero online. Be sure to use the official Nero website (see Resources) to certify authenticity. Download the setup files from the Nero website as well.

Double-click the setup file to launch installation. During installation, be sure to enter your new serial number, rather than your pirated one.

Click "Finish" at the end of setup. The Nero Patent Activation will now have stopped and you will be able to use Nero properly.
