How to Enable ActiveX in Access

Microsoft Access, part of the Office 2007 program, allows you to enable and disable ActiveX controls relatively easily. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that changing the ActiveX controls for Access also changes the ActiveX controls for all other programs in Office 2007, so you may want to restore the ActiveX controls to their previous setting after you are finished working.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Access, then open an Access database file.

    • 2

Click "Options" on the Security Warning message bar.

    • 3

Choose "Enable this Content" to enable all ActiveX controls.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can turn off ActiveX controls by selecting "Help protect me from unknown content (recommended)".
