How to Replace the Lamp in an LCD HDTV
While the lamp on a rear-projection LCD HDTV is user-serviceable, and must be replaced from time to time, the same doesn't apply to the multiple lamps in flat-panel LCD HDTVs, which in general are long-lived and are not user-serviceable. Rear-projection LCD televisions have bulbs, used to illuminate the high-definition on-screen images. These eventually expire, and have to be replaced. Changing an LCD bulb is cheaper and easier than it once was. You do not have to recruit a service technician to perform this simple act of maintenance. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Turn off the rear-projection LCD TV, and allow at least 30 minutes for the bulb to cool. Unplug the TV.
-
2
Access the back of the rear-projection LCD TV. Locate the panel on the lower rear of the TV, covering the bulb assembly.
-
-
3
Unscrew the three or four screws securing the door in place, using the Phillips screwdriver. The screws are probably captive, and will stay in the door panel. Do not attempt to extract them.
-
4
Locate the three screws holding the bulb assembly in place. Remove these screws.
-
5
Lift the handle on the back of the bulb housing. Pull the bulb assembly straight out.
-
6
Slide the new bulb straight in, placing the screws back in and panel back on in the reverse order of removal.
