How to Get Class 3 Gun Licenses
Individuals who plan to collect firearms are required to have a Class 3 Federal Firearms License from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). This license is for those individuals who want to enhance or add to a personal collection by acquiring firearms classified as curios or relics. Those with a Class 3 License cannot sell firearms, but are allowed to make purchases from authorized dealers. Obtaining the license is simple and requires the completion of an application and the payment of a fee.

Review the application before submitting it to the ATF. Those applications that are inaccurate could be denied.

4
Maintain records of all the firearms that are owned using a curio and relics federal firearm license (FFL) book. Pre-printed books are available for purchase or the information can be kept on a spreadsheet. The information sheets, however, need to be "bound" in a binder as a way to keep organized. These records can be inspected by the ATF at any time and need to include all details pertaining to the firearms.
