Add powdered colorant to glycerin soap to create personalized homemade soap. Glycerin soap is readily available at craft stores and in the craft section at local department stores. Glycerin soap is designed for the melt and pour method, which is what makes it a popular method for homemade soap making. This makes one full bar of soap.

    • 4

Put the six cubes of clear glycerin soap in the glass bowl and cover with plastic wrap.

    • 5

Heat in the microwave for one minute, then stir.

    • 6

Heat for up to 30 seconds more until all the chunks are gone and the soap is a smooth consistency.

    • 7

Add two to three drops of colorant from the dropper bottle and stir.

    • 8

Add more colorant one drop at a time until the desired color is reached.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adding too much colorant can ruin a bar of soap and make it unusable as dye will transfer to the skin.

  • 1/2 ounce of powdered colorant will color a gallon of soap, so use it sparingly.
