The macadamia nut, a Hawaiian export and native of Australia, is a buttery delicious round-shaped nut. A difficult nut to free from its shell, the macadamia nut is high in fat and calories. One ounce has approximately 200 calories, 2 grams of protein and is low in carbohydrates. Macadamia nuts are eaten as a snack food, added to cookies and baked goods and used to make candy.
