How to Remove Red Wine From White Linen
Red wine stains need to be removed as soon as possible to prevent them from becoming a permanent addition to the linen. You can treat the red wine stain with items that you have around the house instead of throwing the linen away. Red wine is a water-soluble stain that can be treated and removed with success if you treat the stain properly. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Paper towels
- Washcloths
- 1 tbsp. liquid dish soap
- 2 cups warm water
- 1 tbsp. white vinegar
- Container
- Laundry detergent

Blot the red wine stain with paper towels. Remove as much of the wine as possible by blotting it.

Soak a washcloth with cool water. Wring out the excess water and blot the stain.

Combine 1 tbsp. of liquid dish soap, 2 cups warm water and 1 tbsp. of white vinegar in a container. Dampen a washcloth with the solution.

Blot the stain with the washcloth. Blot the white linen with a dry washcloth between each application. Repeat the process until you remove the stain completely.

Place the white linen in the washing machine. Follow the instructions on the care label carefully. If the instructions say it's safe to use bleach, you may use a little bit with the laundry detergent.

Check to see whether the stain is gone. Do not put the linen in the dryer if the stain remains. Run it through another cycle in the washer.

Tips & Warnings
Never treat dry-clean-only linen. Immediately take it to the dry-cleaner to prevent ruining the fabric.
