How to Repair ActiveX for Free

ActiveX is a component that is used with your Web browser that allows certain types of Web pages to run or function correctly. When a Web page experiences an ActiveX error, you will need to fix the problem by repairing the ActiveX control. To do this, you will need to try to reset the ActiveX control by using the Internet Explorer Web browser. You may also need to reset the settings for Internet Explorer.

Reset ActiveX Control

  • Double-click the Internet Explorer icon to open the Web browser.

  • Click the "Tools" drop-down menu and select the option for "Manage Add-ons."

  • Click the drop-down selection box for "Show" and select "Downloaded controls."

  • Click the ActiveX control that you need to repair. Click the "Disable" button, to disable the control.

  • Click the "Enable" button, to re-enable the control.

Reset Internet Explorer

  • Double-click the Internet Explorer icon to open the Web browser.

  • Click the "Tools" drop-down menu and select the "Internet Options."

  • Go to the "Advanced" tab and then click the "Reset" button. This will display the Reset Internet Explorer Settings window.

  • Click the "Reset" button to reset the settings and delete all ActiveX controls.

  • Click the "Close" button and then the "OK" button. Close and then re-open the browser for the change to take effect.
