Brookfield Orchards Frozen Dumpling Instructions thumbnail
Brookfield Orchards workers pick apples and turn them into dumplings.

For more than 30 years, Brookfield Orchards has been serving up apple dumplings in North Brookfield, Mass. The dumplings, which are a cored apple, stuffed with cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg wrapped in puff pastry, are sold warm at the Orchard's bakery. The confections are served with either a slice of cheddar cheese or vanilla ice cream. But, for people who want more than just one, Brookfield Orchards also offers frozen apple dumplings that can be taken home and cooked whenever the urge strikes. Since the bakery has already done the difficult work, baking the apple dumpling is an easy process. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Baking Brookfield Orchards frozen apple dumplings

    • 1

Preheat the oven by setting it to 325 degrees and allowing it to fully heat.

    • 2

Place the dumplings on an ungreased cookie sheet. Leave at least two inches between each dumpling.

    • 3

Put the dumplings in the oven. The dumplings will need to bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Check them after 30 minutes --- they will be done when the pastry is a medium brown. If they are not ready after 30 minutes, keep checking every five minutes until they are done.

Tips & Warnings

  • The frozen dumplings are already cooked, so you are just reheating them, which means you do not have to worry about undercooked pastry dough.

  • If your dumplings defrost, you will only want to cook them for 20 to 25 minutes, also at 325 degrees.

sigh...I miss their apple dumplings SO much! But unfortunately they do not ship them. At least I can a box of good Macs from them, and also goat cheese from Westfield Farm in Hubbardston. In fact, I have to find ANY apple dumplings out here in Southwest.
