How to Install New Stickers on a Dirt Bike

Apply stickers to a dirt bike carefully

Stickers can make your dirt bike more attractive. They can also identify you in a race or turn your bike into advertising space for your sponsor. Apply the stickers carefully to avoid ruining the decal or the bike. There is also the possibility of a sticker falling off if the surface is not clean. The process of applying decals to a dirt bike is straightforward and you can complete it in a few minutes.

Things You'll Need

• Adhesive remover
• Exhaust plug
• Liquid detergent
• Pressure hose
• Water
• Microfiber towel
• Hair dryer or heat gun

Instructions

1. Peel old stickers off. Use an adhesive remover to take off any remnants of glue on the bike.

2. Clean the area where you will place the sticker to ensure that it adheres properly. Wipe the area with a cleaner and a cloth or wash the bike. If you decide to wash the bike, take the seat off, cover the air filter and plug the exhaust pipe with an exhaust plug so water cannot get in. Wash the bike with detergent and a pressure hose then rinse it off. Wipe the moisture off with a microfiber towel.

3. Put the hair dryer on a hot setting and use it to warm up the plastic for the sticker. You can also use a heat gun if one is available.

4. Line the sticker up with the target spot on the bike. When it appears satisfactory, peel a small portion of the backing off one edge and place the exposed portion on the bike. Continue to peel the backing off and adhere the sticker to the plastic in small portions until the sticker is completely on the bike.

5. Smooth the sticker down with your hand to remove any air bubbles. You may apply more heat to the sticker to soften the glue and make it adhere properly.
