How to Replace the Heatsink Fan in a Gateway MX8711 Laptop
If the heatsink fan in your Gateway MX8711 laptop has stopped working, you should replace it immediately. The heatsink/fan assembly is responsible for keeping your processor cool and operating within nominal temperatures. A dysfunctional fan can damage your processor if it is not replaced promptly. The cooling fan connects directly to the heatsink by two clips. Replacing the fan will require accessing your Gateway laptop's internal components. This task will take about 45 minutes.
